PALMDALE – An alternative-school principal has been placed on paid leave during an investigation into child pornography found on a school computer, Palmdale School District said Friday. Oak Tree Learning Center Principal Robert Berlinger was placed on paid leave Jan. 19 and a computer onto which pornographic images of children may have been downloaded was turned over Jan. 24 to sheriff’s detectives, school district and sheriff’s officials said. “To protect the privacy of the personnel involved, we do not comment on confidential personnel matters. However, we understand there is a criminal investigation pending and the district will fully cooperate with law enforcement,” Assistant Superintendent Roger Gallizzi said. That’s all I know at this juncture. “We are confident everything will work out appropriately. Many individuals are subject to various types of inquiries and investigations and oftentimes it leads to nothing. Other times it may,” Schwab said. “Obviously if something is there, we will respond at that particular time. Mr. Berlinger is a well-respected, well-liked gentleman.” Sheriff’s Sgt.
