  • Shanta Rangaswamy resigns from CAC and ICA after being served conflict of interest notice

first_imgIn response to the ‘Conflict of Interest’ notice served to her by BCCI’s ethics officer DK Jain, Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) member Shanta Rangaswamy has decided to quit from both positions she holds in BCCI.”There is no point in contesting the notice, going through a hearing. As it is I would have had to give up a post. I have decided to give up both posts,” she told India Today.Rangaswamy, a former Indian women cricketer was a director in Indian Cricketers Association (ICA) as well as a member of the CAC. The Kapil Dev-led CAC also comprises of Anshuman Gaikwad apart from Rangaswamy and made the appointment of Indian women’s team coach WV Raman. The committee working in an ad hoc capacity also decided to extend the contract of Indian head coach Ravi Shastri post an interview process.Asked how she would respond if the appointments made by the CAC could be questioned as well citing procedural lapse, she replied, “Look we made the appointments to the best of our ability and without bias. If they say in future, we should not have been allowed to make the appointments, it’s for the CoA to answer.”Rangaswamy expressed frustration at the scenario emerging out of strict implementation of Conflict of interest guidelines which has left the cricketers helpless. “I want to contribute to BCCI but I want to pursue other things as well. I can’t do it if I stick to these positions,” she said.Rangaswamy has meanwhile registered as member of Indian Cricketers Association, the elections for which will soon take place.advertisementAlso Read | Kapil Dev-led Cricket Advisory Committee served with conflict of interest noticelast_img read more
